Funeral Files

The Funeral Files module (/funeral-files) helps parish staff, bereavement ministers, and priests organize Order of Christian Funerals liturgies with compassion and efficiency.


Creating a Funeral File

  1. Go to Funeral Files and click + New Funeral File (/funeral-files/create).
  2. Enter the initial details:
    • Deceased Information: Full name, date of birth, date of death, parishioner status.
    • Primary Family Contact (Next of Kin): Name, relationship to deceased, phone, and email.
    • Mortuary / Funeral Home: Mortuary name, funeral director contact, and casket/urn details.
    • Cemetery / Burial Site: Location of the Graveside Committal service.
  3. Click Create Funeral File.

Coordinating the Funeral Services

Within the funeral file (/funeral-files/{id}), you can coordinate all three stations of the Catholic funeral rite:

1. Multi-Stage Liturgy Scheduling

  • Vigil / Rosary Service: Date, time, location (Church, Chapel, or Mortuary), and leader of prayer.
  • Funeral Mass / Liturgy: Date, time, church location, and presiding celebrant/concelebrants/deacons.
  • Rite of Committal: Date, time, cemetery location, and presider.
  • Reception: Hall booking coordination for the post-funeral parish reception.

2. Liturgy Planning & Family Selections

  • Scripture Readings: First Reading (Old Testament), Responsorial Psalm, Second Reading (New Testament), Gospel.
  • Music & Hymns: Entrance hymn, Offertory, Communion, Song of Farewell, and Recessional.
  • Liturgical Ministers: Family readers, gift bearers, pallbearers, and altar servers.
  • Words of Remembrance: Speaker name and parish guidelines compliance.

3. Requirements Checklist

  • Track the diocesan funeral fee schedule, cremation permission documents (if applicable), and memorial bulletin/program drafts.

4. Financial Ledger

  • Manage church fees, organist/cantor fees, and altar server stipends.
  • Log payments made directly by the family or invoiced to the funeral home/mortuary.
